Join us in our mission to pave the new way of thinking for crane lifting and logistics
At Roborigger, you will be a part of an exciting Perth-based company that is now going international. Roborigger is a rapidly expanding company with products that improve safety and increase efficiency. We have a range of products that include the original load controlling device as well as our internet-connected data collection, logistic management and planning software, and input devices. We are at the forefront of the technologies that will transform the construction and resources industries.
Our focus is now on developing our manufacturing and support capabilities worldwide. We need people who enjoy the challenge of walking on new ground with new ideas and implementing systems that achieve the highest standards in efficient ways. We are currently in the process of moving into a new factory in Wangara, WA and this would be an opportunity for a newly appointed Senior Mechanical Engineer to participate in the efficient set up of this new workshop.
About the role
We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to take charge of the design and project management as we build and operate our rental fleet of Roborigger units.
You will be working alongside a team of highly technical mechanical, electrical and mechatronic engineers supported by our research and industry alliance with Curtin University, NERA, CORE Innovation Hub, and METS Ignited.
You will be responsible for:
The design of Roborigger lifting and materials handling products that incorporate Roborigger technology.
Production of calculations and drawings suitable for independent third party certification.
Project management of design, build and commissioning of Roborigger products, including the management of multi-disciplined input and management of costs.
This role requires you to have good first principle design skills and the ability to analyse by hand and by computer. You must be systematic at design and troubleshooting.
You must have a good knowledge of bearings, seals, gears, as well as the ability to design mechanisms with levers, shafts, gears, clutch, springs, etc. suitable for compact spaces.
As a senior mechanical engineer, we expect you to have a knowledge of lifting and in particular AS 1418 and other global lifting standards. You would also have an understanding of the ISO 9001:2015 quality principles and be able to design processes and implement them.
You need to have an understanding of efficient manufacturing techniques using sub-assemblies and parallel activities and you should be able to pick up and understand the multidisciplinary technical issues associated with Roborigger, i.e. sufficient core knowledge of electrical, electronics, mechanical engineering, how to work with a multidisciplinary team, building and commissioning electronically controlled equipment as well as the ability to understand the construction and resource industry work environments and the lifting and crane industry.
Where you will be working
The work will be generally located at our West Perth headquarters but will also involve working at our assembly and service facility in Wangara.
About you
You will have a mechanical engineering qualification as well as a minimum of 5 years’ design experience. You will have experience in a manufacturing environment or designing for a company undertaking manufacture – ideally serial manufacturing. You will also have experience in an ISO 9001 manufacturing or production environment.
Experience in manufacturing electromechanical devices with electronics and/or hydraulics as well as designing lifting equipment to AS 1418 or other lifting standards will be desirable.
As a senior member of the team, we expect you to be highly computer literate, brutally honest, and be able to develop excellent rapport with team members and customers. You will have multidisciplinary experience planning work practices and defining the process in a formal manner that delivers highly efficient and systematic manufacturing processes. You are an extremely organised person who plans meticulously, yet is able to manage change and disruption and can adapt.
If this sounds like you and the opportunity you are looking for, apply now.
Please submit written applications to Derick Markwell, Managing Director, and include your resume and a cover letter outlining how you meet the job requirements.
