About the Role
Gulaay is seeking an Interim CEO to lead the organisation through its critical early stages.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about Aboriginal economic empowerment, social enterprise development and community impact.
The Interim CEO will provide strategic leadership, develop partnerships and help secure funding to transition Gulaay into a fully operational organisation.
This is a volunteer role initially, but there is potential for it to transition into a paid CEO position as funding and revenue streams are secured.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Vision
Guide Gulaay's growth and ensure alignment with its mission and values.
Develop and implement strategic plans for sustainability and expansion.
Support the development of policies, procedures and financial planning frameworks.
Business Development & Funding
Identify and pursue funding opportunities, including grants, sponsorships, and partnerships.
Explore social enterprise models to generate revenue and long-term sustainability.
Stakeholder Engagement
Build strong relationships with the local Aboriginal community, government agencies, corporate partners and community organisations.
Represent Gulaay at meetings, forums and events to promote its mission and secure support.
Operational Oversight
Support recruitment and coordination of volunteers and future staff.
Who We're Looking For
We're seeking someone who:
Has leadership experience in social enterprises, Aboriginal organisations, not-for-profits or community development.
Is passionate about Aboriginal economic empowerment and social change.
Has business acumen, particularly in fundraising, grant applications or enterprise development.
Can effectively engage with stakeholders (government, business, community groups) to drive partnerships and funding.
Is adaptable and proactive, willing to build from the ground up.
Has strong communication, governance and financial planning skills.
Experience in business development, grant writing or managing start-up initiatives will be highly regarded.
