This role, supported by the Product Development Supervisor and Technical and Development Manager, is a key team member in ensuring the laboratory meets the needs of the organisations product development, production and sales support, while creating a positive workplace culture.ResponsibilitiesAssist in the development of new products to the product development plan to the required timelines.Deliver material cost savings projects and formulation optimisation to annual project list.Qualification of materials to ensure continuity in manufacturing.Assist the Product Development Supervisor and Technical and Development Manager in leading safety within the Lab by being proactive on safety issues, adhering to all safe work procedures and participating in safety discussions.Provide a clean and tidy environment in the laboratories for team members and other Haymes Paint employees. Assist in maintaining overall housekeeping and safety within the QC and R&D laboratories.Deliver testing results to the sales and marketing teams to agreed timelines to assist in the selling of products.Assist in QC to maintain coverage.Work with manufacturing team members to resolve paint production issues in a timely manner. Minimize non-compliant batches and identify work off rates or other actions where required for non-compliant batches.Completion of complaints with the laboratory team.Assist with the maintenance of NATA accreditation through the proficiency testing program.About YouFamiliarity with laboratory systems and practices.Basic to Intermediate computer skills (MS Office packages)Good communication skills (possess the ability to communicate effectively across different levels of the lab team, manufacturing and sales and marketing)Organisational and time management skills to manage different work streams, with the ability to meet deadlines.Ability to work without supervision, prioritise tasks and maintain accurate records.Strong desire to succeed with a high level of self-motivation.Highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to communicate across different levels.Effectively communicate with Laboratory and Production team members.Role Attributes And RequirementsAbility to lift (occasionally) materials up to 10Kg as an individual, higher weights as part of group lifting.Ability to correctly use engineering, systems and PPC&E controls for activities with hazardous materials including flammable liquids, corrosive materials, CMR (carcinogen, mutagen and reproductive toxin), STOT (Single Targeted Organ Toxin) and skin and respiratory irritants to keep personal and team exposure to levels under limits.Work in manufacturing and laboratory areas with variable temperature (5° to 40°C) and noise.Current Drivers Licence.Ideally 2 years experience and training in the surface coatings industry.Benefits50% off retail price of Haymes Paint manufactured products, including friends and family discounts.6% Medibank Corporate discount.20% New Balance discount.Ongoing training and support.Access to a range of workplace health and wellbeing initiatives.Professional development opportunities.Please apply by including a recent resume and responding to the selection questions.
