Igniting passion through unforgettable experiences, the AGPC's events make substantial contributions to Victoria's visitor economy, boosting tourism, hotel occupancy, and visitor spend. The organisation's 2024 events boasted record numbers, including more than 452,000 Formula 1 attendees (with 74% of attendees recommending Melbourne as a holiday destination), and approximately 80,000 MotoGP attendees.A newly created role within the organisation, the Head of Procurement will lead procurement strategy and conduct strategic procurement activities across the AGPC to unlock value for money opportunities and create a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. As a standalone role, the Head of Procurement will work closely with leaders, teams, and stakeholders across the organisation to improve procurement systems, governance, and contract management. You will be responsible for uplifting AGPC's procurement framework and processes to embed across the organisation, ensuring that people understand and use the system, and see the value that a data-driven and structured approach to procurement brings. You will manage negotiations and contracts with existing and new suppliers, report progress directly to the Executive and the Board Committee, and engage broadly with other external stakeholders to position the AGPC as a competitive and innovative leader in the delivery of international major events.To be successful in this role you will be a proven leader in strategic procurement practices, bringing a contemporary approach to unlocking sustainable commercial value. You will be equally comfortable preparing succinct, robust, market-tested procurement strategies as you are providing specialist commercial advice and negotiating commercial outcomes to support the operational objectives of the AGPC. Your experience could cut across sectors, and ideally you will have exposure to Victorian Government procurement practices and platforms. An excellent communicator, you are comfortable presenting, influencing, challenging, and negotiating to achieve outcomes. You value the importance of good governance, and are experienced in researching and implementing procurement systems to add value to broader organisational systems and processes.
