We are looking for a candidate with a genuine interest in commencing their career as an Engineering Apprentice (Fitter) based in Innisfail on the Cassowary Coast. The successful candidate will have a passion for working in this industry and demonstrate a safety-first mindset with a commitment to completing the full term of this 4-year apprenticeship. The key outcome of this apprenticeship will be in water and sewerage mechanical maintenance. The Apprenticeship will involve: Assisting with mechanical maintenance, fault diagnosis, repairs, and installation of pumps at Sewer Pump Stations, Treatment Plants, and Water Pump Stations. Assisting with general repairs using MIG, MMAW, and OAW processes. Ensuring secure, safe, and proper operations of assigned tools, equipment, and plant. Assisting with precision fitting using metal lathe, radial drill, hydraulic presses, cut-off machine, bench grinder, hand and power tools, and overhead gantry. Daily physical exertion such as bending, twisting, climbing, lifting, pulling, or pushing heavy materials. Requirements: Manual Driver's licence and reliable transport. Construction White Card, or willing to obtain. Sound understanding and knowledge of the trade. Work experience or Certificate II Engineering is advantageous. Understanding of workplace health and safety. Strong communication skills. Eagerness to work and highly motivated. Good hand-eye coordination. Confident use of hand and power tools, welding, and drilling machines. Ability to comply with drug and alcohol testing requirements, prior to commencement and during employment.
