About the roleThe Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for driving Quality throughout the site and with all personnel.We are looking for a full time, self-motivated, people-focused, and passionate professional who has a strong focus on food safety and quality management systems, quality culture, people management, training & continuous improvement for better commercial outcomes.
The ideal candidate will have quality assurance experience as well as experience in fresh produce and/or food manufacturing.
The purpose of this role is to ensure that all Quality systems are in place and being utilised appropriately by all facets of the business.The primary responsibilities of the role include:• Maintain and improve the existing Quality Management System and HACCP plans to meet all statutory and regulatory requirements and customer standards including SQF, WWSEP, SEDEX, Aldi & Costco Supplier Requirements, supported by the GAP, GMP, HACCP, TACCP Plans • Build upon, comply with, and maintain company quality assurance standards• Take the primary responsibility for Food Safety Compliance and be an SQF Practitioner (on-site responsibility).• Carefully maintain complaint and nonconformance processing through records and tracking systems, including root cause and corrective actions• Host and lead external audits and address any non-conformances identified.• Document quality assurance activities with internal reporting and audits• Develop new standards for production with improvements as needed• Identify training needs and take action to ensure company-wide compliance• Provide advice for the Continuous Improvement of the QA Management System.Skills and experienceKey strengths essential for success in this role are:• Experience in the development & application of food safety & quality systems in a mushroom or fresh produce environment• Previous experience with Aldi, Costco and WW retailer audits• Excellent organisation & communication skills• Excellent interpersonal & leadership skills• Strong attention to detail• Ability to be hands-on, assertive, organised & work autonomously• Ability to provide team leadership, direction, coaching, mentoring and support including 1:1s with team leaders, conducting annual performance & development reviewsExperience & Qualifications• Min.
2-3 years' experience in the development of Food Safety & Quality Systems• Min.
2-3 years' experience in Food Manufacturing or fresh produce environment,• Proven experience in a QA management/leadership role• Formal HACCP training with a thorough working knowledge of HACCP,• Previous experience in a Quality Assurance role (min.
2-3 years)• Previous experience in Food Microbiology (min.
2-3 years)• Ability to work as part of a team & meet deadlines,• Training HACCP implementation• Experience as an on-site SQF Practitioner• Tertiary Degree (Bachelor) in a Food Science related discipline
