SA Health Job reference: 887296Location: 5042 - BEDFORD PARKJob status: OngoingEligibility: Open to EveryoneSouthern Adelaide Local Health Network – Flinders Medical Centre – Speech TherapySalary $114,314.00 - $124,449.00 (Pro Rata) AHP4 | 15 hours p/w – Ongoing Make an Impact: Advanced Practioner Speech Pathology Position in Laryngeal Disorders As a highly specialized Speech Pathologist, you will lead the development of an outpatient Speech Pathology Led Laryngeal Disorders Clinic, providing expert care to patients with conditions like laryngeal hypersensitivity syndrome, dysphonia, and dysphagia.You will be accountable for planning, coordinating, and evaluating this service to improve outcomes, collaborating closely with Ear, Nose, and Throat Consultants through the Division of Surgery. Additionally, you will drive quality initiatives, research projects, staff training, and represent Speech Pathology on various committees to shape models of care and implement organizational initiatives.About the role: Reporting to the Speech Pathology Manager Acute, some of your duties as the Advanced Practitioner Speech Pathologist may involve:Maintaining a clinical caseload to provide expert professional expertise in the timely assessment, diagnosis, prognosis, treatment and education for patients with complex communication and/or swallowing disorders within the specialty area of laryngeal based disorders.Utilising your specialist assessment techniques requiring extended/advanced scope of practice in the assessment of laryngeal and swallow function in particular, administration and interpretation of laryngoscopy and administration of pharmacological agents where required.Attending other SA Health sites with senior medical consultants to advise on best practice approaches to Upper airway disorders and monitor progress on subsequent visits; by undertaking assessment of complex patients.About you: Appropriate degree in Speech Pathology or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Speech Pathology Association of Australia.Significant clinical experience in a health setting as a speech pathologist demonstrating expertise in the multi-disciplinary management and treatment of adults with high acuity and/or complex upper airway and laryngeal conditions.Significant training and experience in conducting specialised instrumental examinations of swallowing and voice, including Videofluoroscopic Swallow Studies, flexible rhino-laryngoscopy/stroboscopy and Functional Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES).Experience in the ongoing training and mentoring of clinicians in the area of expertise and in implementing quality improvement practices and research initiatives.Evidence of strategic planning (able to work towards a clear vision of the future while ensuring that shorter term goals are met).Please see the attached Role Description for additional information.Please note: The attached role description/s are currently under review and may be adjusted prior to appointment.
