The organisation’s mission is to operate the Bundanon properties as a centre for creative arts and education, to support the development of arts practice across all disciplines and to enable public access to the arts and to the landscape. ABOUT THE ROLE...
The Museum Attendant/Front of House role ensures a seamless visitor experience. With excellent communication skills, the role attends, monitors and facilitates interactions between visitors and exhibits with ease. Capably navigating and anticipating visitors needs, the Attendant demonstrates strong knowledge of each exhibition and promotes the broader Bundanon offering.
WHAT YOU WILL DO...
Visitor Engagement and Operational Support
* Enhance visitors’ understanding and enjoyment by providing clear and accurate information relating to current exhibitions, events and site, addressing inquiries and ensuring a positive experience for all visitors.
* Offer friendly and informative assistance to visitors, answering questions and providing directions.
* Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and professionalism at all times.
* Maintain a comprehensive understanding of Bundanon’s offerings, including its history, exhibitions, events, programs and accommodation.
* Confidently deliver engaging tours to cater to diverse audience groups, from individuals to larger guided tours.
* Handle cash and card transactions for admission fees, event tickets, memberships, and merchandise with accuracy and attention to detail.
* Support the Visitor Services team by efficiently managing front desk operations and providing assistance as required across all Bundanon sites.
* Contribute to ongoing improvement by actively seeking survey responses from visitors to gain valuable insights and enhance the visitor experience.
* Actively engage in the sale of merchandise and provide excellent customer service in the retail shop.
WHS
* Adhere to the WH&S responsibilities and standards.
* Participate in safety training programs, ensuring comprehensive understanding of emergency procedures and protocols.
* Maintain WHS proficiency, including First Aid certification.
* Participate in regular safety inspections reporting any issues and contributing to a safe and secure environment.
* Promptly report any accidents, incidents, or near misses, and work collaboratively with relevant staff to prevent reoccurrence.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR...
Essential
* Proven ability to deliver outstanding customer service, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience for visitors.
* Excellent verbal communication skills to engage with diverse audiences, including the ability to convey information about artworks and exhibits clearly.
* Demonstrated experience in processing transactions including handling cash, admission fees, memberships and merchandise sales.
* Sensitivity and respect for diverse cultures ensuring an inclusive and respectful approach in all interaction with visitors, artists and colleagues.
* Comfortable using museum software, point of sale systems and other technology for ticketing, information retrieval and communication.
Desirable
* Relevant education in art, museum studies, event management, performance or a related field.
* Knowledge or interest in contemporary art and art history, providing the ability to engage visitors in meaningful conversation about exhibits.
* Ability to handle challenging situations or visitor concerns with effective problem-solving skills.
