About The Role The Services Officer – Ballarat is a fixed-term, full-time position for 6 months. This position will also require leave coverage at Maryborough Station.
In this role you will give the best possible service delivery to customers travelling on V/Line services while supporting safety on and around the rail. Your responsibilities will include selling Myki and V/Net tickets, making platform announcements, assisting passengers, and maintaining the cleanliness of the station and its facilities.
Key Accountabilities include:
Communicate accurate and timely information to customers, ensuring coach replacements are organised where required. Complete ticket sales and seat reservations. Maintain the presentation and cleanliness of the station. Required to work at other stations along the Ballarat line on an ad-hoc basis. Opportunity to work as a Reserve Conductor. Ensure safety on and around the station, for customers, colleagues, and yourself. Communication with key stakeholders to ensure safe train running. Depending on scheduling and business needs, you may be required to sign on and work at various stations along the Ballarat line with 80km of your Home Depot.
About You Having previous experience in face-to-face customer service and an operational environment is an advantage, as is demonstrating good situational awareness and prioritising safety in the workplace. Knowledge in rostering that aligns with an enterprise agreement can be beneficial, but it is not a requirement.
Experience in rail, transport, hospitality, retail, supply, manufacturing, care work, or any profession valuing safety equally with service is ideal.
To be successful in this role, you already have: Successful completion of Year 10 (minimum). Victorian Driver Licence. Willingness & ability to travel to other stations, to provide service along the line. Availability for shift work & overtime. Previous face-to-face customer service experience and a demonstrated commitment to workplace safety. Strong verbal & written communication skills. Ability to adapt to changing environments. Remuneration for this position will be in line with the V/Line Rail Operations and Administrative Employees Agreement 2023 and paid as a SERVICES OFFICER (SO) SHN $42.4772 plus super.
