About the Role:
Annandale Christian College is seeking a Teacher Librarian to join our dynamic teaching team on a permanent part time basis of 4 days per week commencing in January 2025.
The Teacher Librarian will empower students and staff to inquire, analyse, evaluate, interpret, ask informed questions and refine critical thinking. The role will engage directly and proactively with staff and students to collaboratively build a relevant, thoughtful and inspiring physical and digital collection of resources to enhance learning and teaching.
The Teacher Librarian will continue to develop our College’s library as a dynamic and welcoming space for learning and will be responsible for implementing research skills development within classes and promoting reading and literature through targeted focus lessons.
The role will assist students to maximise their academic potential and develop reading and enquiry as a core life skill, fostering their growth into lifelong learners.
With an exciting College upgrade in the pipeline including a new educational hub which will host state of the art library facilities, now is a rare and exciting opportunity for the successful applicant to be an active part of the next stage of our College’s learning journey.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement engaging library programs, literacy and reading initiatives that reflect the College’s Christian philosophy and foster a love of reading and learning within the College community.
* Manage and curate the library collection to support curriculum needs, promote literacy and ensure resources meet diverse learning needs.
* Collaborate with teaching staff to integrate library resources and deliver programs that enhance students’ research and information skills and higher-order thinking into classroom activities.
* Provide training and support to students in information literacy and research skills.
* Oversee Library resources and undertake administration tasks ensuring the Library runs efficiently and that systems, resources and equipment are well maintained.
Key Requirements:
* A committed Christian, active in your local church (pastoral reference required) and in full agreement with the College’s evangelical Statement of Faith.
* A successful and proven record as an innovative Librarian and Teacher with a love of literature.
* Current knowledge of teaching pedagogy, curriculum initiatives, and the use of learning technologies across both Primary and Secondary age groups and subjects.
* A passion for literature and reading and a strong commitment to integrating Christian principles into library services.
* An understanding of relevant legislation (e.g. copyright law) relating to the role.
* Demonstrated excellent technological literacy.
Qualifications:
* Current registration with the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT).
* Relevant qualifications in Library and Information Services such as Grad Dip in Information and Library Studies or a Master of Education (Teacher Librarianship).
* Current professional membership with the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) or similar.
