The Manager Wastewater Systems and Environment is a key leader in ensuring compliance and adherence with EPA guidelines at our 22 wastewater treatment plants including in day-to-day operations and process improvements.
As a manager, you will play a vital role in leading, mentoring and supporting our Wastewater Systems and Environment teams to ensure timely, effective and compliant operational services.
The Wastewater Systems and Environment teams include environmental scientists based in our regional headquarters and outdoor operators spread across our farms, wastewater and mechanical sites.
This role is a full-time opportunity, including a monthly RDO and flexible work options.
Key Responsibilities Manage operational expenditure, including overseeing maintenance budgets and associated scheduling of works.Provide strategic advice and data integrity relating to operational functions.Ensure reuse water operations are consistent with EPA guidelines, maximise benefit to the environment and minimise any harm.Optimise existing infrastructure and operations to reduce operational expenditure.Plan and deliver the requirements outlined in the Statement of Obligations (Emissions Reduction) pathway, including renewable energy and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.Secure a pathway to 100% compliance for EPA licences.Progress the Corporation's objective to sustainably manage biosolids to generate a source of non-regulated revenue.Pursue programs and activities to meet the Corporation's ambitions on carbon emissions, Circular Economy outcomes and Nature Capital opportunities.Lead the Farming and Irrigation team in the management of a sustainable and profitable agribusiness operation.Key Selection Criteria Demonstrated extensive leadership in an operational indoor and outdoor environment.Demonstrated skills and understanding of financial controls and budgeting.An understanding of carbon emissions and reporting.Experience working with and responding to regulators and regulatory guidelines to ensure environmental compliance.Relevant qualification (relevant science or applied science preferable) with several years' experience in key leadership roles in a wastewater discipline or similar.Working at North East Water North East Water is a leader in a unique and rewarding industry.
