The Opportunity
Lithgow City Council has an exciting opportunity for a Resource Recovery Operator (6-month Term Contract) in Lithgow, NSW.
Reporting to the Lithgow Solid Waste Facility Site Supervisor, you will operate site plant and equipment to provide effective landfill and resource recovery services. You will also undertake customer service, load inspection, and resource recovery activities.
Duties:
* Operate site plant and equipment including waste compactor, track loader, wheeled loader, excavator, and water cart.
* Screen customers and loads to ensure authorised waste is delivered and customers are charged correctly.
* Direct traffic to appropriate areas of the site dependent on load type.
* Separate recoverable materials into stockpiles and manage them safely.
* Perform site housekeeping, litter collection, and keep resource recovery areas tidy.
* Undertake minor maintenance and care of plant and equipment.
* Assist with gatehouse duties where required.
About You:
* You must have experience in landfill and resource recovery operations or similar.
* You should be competent in operating heavy plant, including waste compactor, track loader, wheeled loader, excavator, or similar.
* You must hold a Class C Drivers Licence.
* You should possess sound communication skills and demonstrated commitment to quality customer service.
* You should understand Work Health & Safety and Risk Management Responsibilities.
* You must be willing to undertake additional training.
* You should demonstrate commitment to honesty and integrity.
* You should have a sense of civic pride and environmental responsibility.
Preferred Qualifications:
* A Class HR drivers licence.
* Asbestos Awareness Training.
* An understanding of environmental issues and the role that a waste facility holds within the community.
* A First Aid Certificate.
Salary and Benefits:
* A competitive salary between $1201.42 and $1320.12 per week, commensurate with your skills, qualifications, and experience.
