About the company
Karlka Recruiting Group has partnered with a Federal Government Agency to engage an Infrastructure Engineer – Linux ICT Support. This position is located in their busy Canberra office for an initial 12-month contract with possible 12-month extension.
About the Position
The Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for delivering high-level Linux-based system administration in a fast-paced, secure environment. The role involves leading the installation, configuration, and maintenance of critical ICT infrastructure, ensuring seamless operations in both physical and cloud environments.
Duties
* Lead the installation, configuration, and sustainment of Linux-based ICT infrastructure (physical and cloud-based), including servers and network devices.
* Use automation tools (e.g., Puppet, Ansible) to streamline system builds and configurations.
* Monitor and maintain core system services, including syslog, authentication, and operational reliability.
* Maintain reliability of ICT infrastructure through configuration automation, upgrading and patching, monitoring, and utilizing version control systems.
* Contribute to the preparation of software implementation procedures, including contingency plans.
* Monitor operational systems for usage and failure rates, resolving issues as they arise.
* Create and update technical documentation in accordance with industry standards.
Requirements/Skills
* Expertise in Apache NIFI and Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence).
* Experience in application management software and tools.
* Proficiency in scripting and automation for provisioning and system updates.
* Provide technical expertise to enable the correct application of operational procedures.
* Design, code, verify, test, document, amend, and refactor simple programs/scripts.
* Design system components using appropriate modeling techniques following agreed architectures, design standards, patterns, and methodology.
* Undertake or supervise complex installations and de-installations of systems or components, including handover to the client.
* Current Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) security clearance required
