Due to an exciting internal promotion, the City of Mandurah is currently looking for an experienced and dynamic individual to fill the position of Executive Manager Governance Services. Your leadership will be pivotal in achieving our strategic, financial, operational, and statutory objectives while fostering a positive workplace culture.
In this role, which is offered as a full-time permanent position or available as a 5-year fixed term contract (at full-time hours), you will lead and develop your team which includes Governance and Legal Services, Commercial Services and Risk and Compliance, to ensure strategic and operational management objectives are met.

You will be responsible for leading:
* The City’s Governance Services, Legal Services and Information Management Services to ensure organisational transparency, accountability and compliance with statutory obligations.
* The delivery of commercial services, including Procurement Services, Contracts Services and Property Services for improved commercial outcomes and to ensure compliance with statutory requirements, City policies and procedures.
* The City’s Risk Management Framework, Business Continuity Plan and City’s Strategic Internal Audit framework to support continuous improvement of the City’s services.
You will have a passion for upskilling the People Leaders in your team to coach and mentor their teams and assist them to implement initiatives that drive culture, engagement and performance. In addition, you will understand team dynamics and key business priorities to provide advice and support to your People Leaders on effectively managing their teams.

* Operational Excellence: Promote continuous service improvement, compliance, risk management and customer satisfaction through effective management of resources and assets.
* Financial Management: Oversee the achievement of annual financial objectives for your area.
* Quality Assurance: Ensure the City’s compliance with legislative requirements.
* Stakeholder Engagement:Cultivate and maintain effective relationships across the City working to best practice standards and displaying a high degree of professionalism.
* Policy Development: Create and implement governance policies and strategies that promote ethical and productive workplace behaviour.
* Team Leadership: Encourage open communication and empower and build the capabilities of your team.
What you will bring to the team
* Degree relevant to the duties of this position i.e. in law, business management or corporate governance related field.
* 10 years knowledge and experience leading multidisciplinary teams in the delivery of high level advice and support in the fields of corporate governance, risk, procurement and contracts.
* Highly developed financial management skills for budget preparation and control.
* Extensive knowledge of relevant legislation relating to governance, property and local government.
* Extensive experience in leading the integration of risk management and governance frameworks within an organisation.
* Ability to lead and think strategically.
* Demonstrated ability to develop and implement governance and compliance systems.
* Proven leadership skills.
* High level of interpersonal, communication and decision-making skills.
* Highly developed dispute resolution and negotiation skills.
* Demonstrated ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team.
* Commitment to self-improvement and professional development.
* Must be detail oriented, with the ability to handle multiple assignments promptly and effectively and to direct staff.
* Ability to work across organisation, build partnerships and foster a collaborative work environment.
* Demonstrated ability to work calmly in a fast-paced team environment while effectively managing multiple projects.
* Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality to deal appropriately with sensitive and high-level issues.

The finer details
This full-time position attracts a negotiated salary of up to $205,542 (inclusive of car allowance) plus superannuation, dependent on qualifications and experience and a wide range of benefits to reward your contribution.
