About the Opportunity
As the Deputy Chief Test Engineer, based in SA or WA, you will act as the engineering representative for the Safety and Certification Group. You will work closely with the Chief Test Engineer to ensure successful outcomes with submarine certification, maintaining direct liaison with Navy representatives on engineering matters and procedures. This role involves providing technical oversight of Set-to-Work, Harbour and Sea Trials, and Installation Inspection documentation.
Responsibilities
* Provide independent technical oversight of test and trials documentation.
* Approve Set-to-Work, Harbour and Sea Trials results and liaise with Navy representatives.
* Support liaison with other ASC departments for de-confliction of activities and problem-solving.
* Assist in the development of Test Management Plans as required.
* Support the development and management of Job Safety Plans, Work Instructions, and Configuration Management System processes.
* Review and technically verify Installation Inspections.
* Perform any other tasks as identified by the Chief Test Engineer or Submarine Safety and Certification Manager.
About You
* Engineering qualification (Mechanical/Electrical)
* Minimum 3 years of experience working as an Engineer
* Minimum 5 years of previous team leader experience
* Broad and detailed knowledge of Collins Class systems and shipyard operations
* Previous experience in the Defence, marine environment, or oil and gas industries
* Familiarity with appropriate business systems
* Ability to maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance
Eligibility
