Product Compliance and Design TechnicianEJ is a 140 year old family business, and the world leader in the design, manufacture, and distribution of access solutions for water, sewer, drainage, telecommunications and utility networks worldwide.An opportunity has arisen for a full-time person based at our offices in Brendale, QLD. The role is for a Product Compliance and Design Technician and is twofold:Product Compliance – primary roleOperating within our organisation is the test facility, committed to ensuring product compliance with Australian Standard 3996:2019. Our facility provides a comprehensive range of tests to guarantee the quality, safety, and reliability of various products.You will be responsible for conducting tests and validating products from our NATA-approved testing facility. We will provide training for the safe operation of test equipment, education and test procedures of AS3996:2019 and NATA requirements.This is a physically demanding job, in an environment that tests cast iron and galvanised mild steel, for products typically measuring 600x600 and above. These products are frequently coated with dust adding to the challenges of the work.Generally, 20+ hours per week will be spent testing products.Design Technician – secondary roleProduce technical drawings of access covers and grates using SolidWorks.You will be supported by a Product Development Team, that has vast experience in providing access solutions across the globe.Once familiar with EJ’s products you will support the engineering team to design and deliver appropriate, cost effective and sustainable solutions based on client specifications requested via the Sales Teams across Australia.QualificationsProven experience working with SolidWorks (or equivalent), advanced training will be provided for the right person.AutoCAD (desirable but not essential).Mechanical/Fabrication understanding and working principles.Associate diploma in Mechanical Engineering (preferred) or similar.Skills and RequirementsStrong command of the English language, both verbal and written.Ability to gain a strong understanding of AS3996:2019 test and requirements.Understanding of FEA.Strong attention to detail.Good numeracy and communication skills.Professional, enthusiastic, and proactive.Candidates must hold valid Australian work rights with no restrictions on employment duration or hours.
