Family Healthcare Support Worker - Irymple

About the Role
The purpose of this role is to provide support to children with complex medical needs in their home environment or other appropriate settings. The provision of this support allows parents the time to rest and attend to other responsibilities whilst their child is safely cared for by a trained Support Worker. Care is delivered independently, often in the absence of parents in line with the child specific care plan. This care plan is developed in collaboration with the family, their medical specialists, and other members of the RCH team. We have a number of vacant hours across Regional Victoria, various casual positions are available pending location, availability and suitability to fulfil patient requirements. We are specifically seeking support workers to work in Regional Victoria, Irymple.
You will be responsible for:
1. Providing care dependent on the individualized patient needs as per the parameters in their care plan, which may include personal care, specific medical interventions, giving tube feeds and medications.
2. If appropriate, supporting children to access activities, education, and community outings.
3. Maintaining the safety and well-being of the child as outlined in the child specific training manual and report any concerns to the parents.
4. Being responsible for the safe management of equipment during shift times and report any concerns to the parents.
5. Completing documentation of care delivered during support shifts as required.
6. Establishing relationships with child and family that recognise professional boundaries.
Your skills and experience:
1. Strong ability to complete verbal and written assessments delivered in English.
2. Ability to travel independently.
3. Interpersonal skills and professional demeanour.
4. Efficient computer skills and the ability to enter data accurately.
5. Relevant qualification at nationally accredited certificate level 3 or equivalent.
6. First Aid to a basic certificate level.
7. Previous experience in supporting children with medical complexity.
Other requirements:
1. Current National Criminal Record Check, or willing to obtain.
2. Valid Working with Children Check.
3. Current NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willing to obtain.
4. Compliance with RCH’s “Staff Immunisation - Prevention of Vaccine Preventable Diseases” procedure.
