THE ROLE The Senior Accountant supports the Director of Finance in managing the hotel's assets, liabilities, income, and expenditure. They are responsible for the smooth operation of the finance department, ensuring accurate and timely financial information is received from other departments. The role also involves providing insights to improve profitability and monitoring internal controls across the hotel. IDEAL CANDIDATE The Senior Accountant is responsible for a wide range of financial and managerial duties to ensure the efficient operation of the hotel’s finance department. We are looking for someone who has previous Hotel Accommodation experience. Key responsibilities include: Financial Reporting & Analysis: Preparing and reviewing daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports, ensuring all are submitted on time. Participating in budget preparation, re-forecasts, and strategic planning, while also preparing management reports as required. Expense Management & Budgeting: Assisting in controlling outlet expenses, ensuring they stay within budget guidelines. Actively participating in the monthly outlook and business planning processes, reviewing manpower summaries, and managing the accounting for wages, overtime, and supplies. Accounts Management: Reviewing and monitoring accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments, statement reconciliations, and accurate billing. Maintaining control over cash receipts, banking, and financial controls within the F&B department. Month-End Close & Reconciliation: Supervising the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely reconciliation of general ledger balances, and ensuring all financial transactions align with accounting standards. Cash Flow & Tax Management: Monitoring cash flow alongside the Director of Finance, preparing forecasts, and ensuring accurate tax payments are made. Payroll: Overseeing payroll processes, including processing weekly payroll, managing timesheet approvals, handling employee terminations, and resolving payroll queries. Managing workers’ compensation payments and ensuring the accuracy of tax-related payments. Team Development & Management: Training and developing finance team members, ensuring adherence to accounting procedures, conducting performance appraisals, and supporting staff development programs. Motivating the team and fostering a positive work environment to reduce turnover. Policy Compliance: Ensuring adherence to hotel management agreements, internal policies, and corporate procedures. Identifying and addressing any compliance issues and suggesting improvements where necessary. Cross-Department Collaboration: Liaising with department heads from various hotel departments, such as Food and Beverage, Sales, Catering, and Engineering, to provide financial insights and ensure departmental performance aligns with the hotel’s financial goals. Customer Service: Ensuring courteous and professional service to internal and external stakeholders, including guests, suppliers, and contractors. Promoting a culture of excellent service within the finance team and across the hotel.
