Community Engagement Officer (1.5-year contract) The Big Rivers Child and Family Centre's outreach initiative is a community-focused endeavour, aimed at bolstering the diverse populations within the Big Rivers Region through specialised educational, health, and welfare services.
Central to this initiative is the innovative use of a mobile CFC Outreach trailer, providing a dynamic and accessible platform for delivering a wide array of programs directly within the community.
The Community Engagement Officer will play a pivotal role through collaboration with local stakeholders in enhancing community resilience, quality of life, self-care, and independence by delivering vital services directly to the community.
The focus will be on early childhood development, health, nutrition, and parental engagement, aligning with the ethos of "Starting Early for a Better Future."
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain relationships with community members, local residents, and key stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the outreach initiative.
Actively promote the program's services and activities to the community, ensuring high levels of participation and engagement.
Organise and facilitate community events, workshops, and interactive activities that cater to the needs of children aged 0-5 and their caregivers.
Engage and support families and young people utilising the Big Rivers Child & Family Centre.
Advocacy for young people and families to assist access to required services.
Maintain accurate records of program activities, participation rates, and outcomes.
Assist in the development of reports and presentations for stakeholders, demonstrating the impact of the outreach initiative.
Ensure the mobile outreach trailer is well-maintained, stocked with necessary supplies, and ready for each community visit.
Undertake other duties as required by management.
Renumeration Package:
Salary Range : $50,292.74 - 70,283.17 per annum (pro-rata)
Entitlements/Benefits: 6 Weeks Annual Leave + 2 Weeks Sick Leave + 2 Weeks Ancillary Leave + 1 RDO per Month (pro-rata)
Location: Kalano's Big Rivers Child & Family Centre - Katherine, NT
Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week – 7.5 hours per day (Monday to Friday | 08:00am – 4:30pm)
The successful applicant should possess the following attributes, skills and competencies:
Certificate in Community Services (or equivalent) is desirable.
Experience working with vulnerable people from a strength-based framework.
Competent use of computer software packages such as Word, Excel, email and internet.
Good work ethics – reliability, honesty, confidentiality, responsibility.
Ability to work effectively with culturally and linguistically diverse people including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and people who have been born overseas.
Ability to work in a team as well as unsupervised.
Willingness to undertake further training as required.
Valid NT Drivers Licence, Valid Ochre Card and willingness to undergo a National Police Check.
Ability to tow a trailer safely.
