We're looking for a Senior Natural Resource Management Officer to contribute to the South Coast Region's water measurement and monitoring program.This is a permanent full-time opportunity. This position is based in Albany; however, we may consider alternative locations for the right candidate. Please note that regular travel to Albany will be required.The Senior Natural Resource Management Officer contributes to the efficient and effective delivery of the South Coast Region water measurement and monitoring program. The program collects hydrological data from the department's ground and surface water hydrometric network and water quality monitoring projects to support sustainable development and management of water resources.This position is a technical lead for hydrography, implementing Department and industry-standard hydrographic practices to influence and deliver agreed water data services. Duties include:Coordinating and implementing hydrometric station operation plans.Quality assurance and management of data.Development and regular review of complex stage-discharge relationships, including hydraulic design and modelling.Investigating discharge measurement structure performance and site audits.Delivering capital works projects.Work often requires solving problems and developing, and/or making improvements on systems and processes. The position works within a regional team, integrates across business areas and also supports the state-wide water measurement and monitoring program.Individuals at this level are expected to perform tasks independently, coordinate project work with teams, lead works approval processes and make risk-based decisions aligned with the Department. They fill the role of team data manager, applying well-developed knowledge of hydraulic principles and hydrometric site operations to meet data user specifications and service agreements. The Senior Officer role must liaise with the community, external agencies and internal groups.
