The COO provides strategic and operational leadership, overseeing core operational functions, and ensuring compliance with NDIS requirements. This role focuses on fostering a positive, inclusive workplace culture, driving continuous improvement, and aligning operations with AQA’s purpose, vision, and values.Key Responsibilities Include:Leadership and Strategic Oversight:Lead operational teams to align with AQA’s strategic vision and values.Drive a high-performance culture centred on collaboration, accountability, and inclusion.Support the CEO in executing strategic plans by translating them into actionable operational initiatives.Advise the CEO and Board on operational risks and opportunities to ensure sustainable growth.Promote ethical standards and inspire leaders across the organisation.Service Excellence and Compliance:Oversee the delivery of client-centred disability support services in compliance with NDIS standards.Develop and optimise operating systems, processes, and structures to improve efficiency and quality.Drive operational excellence through continuous improvement and innovation.Implement robust compliance frameworks to align with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission and other regulations.Analyse operational data and feedback to address service delivery gaps and improve client outcomes.Financial and Resource Management:Collaborate with the CFO to develop and manage budgets, ensuring financial sustainability.Optimise resource allocation to meet organisational priorities effectively.Monitor financial performance and identify opportunities for cost efficiency.Ensure financial reporting adheres to NDIS funding and pricing guidelines.Workforce Development and Capacity Building:Build a skilled, motivated workforce that aligns with AQA’s values.Implement strategies to enhance staff engagement, retention, and development.Oversee workforce planning to meet service delivery needs and future growth.Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive workplace culture.Develop leadership and training programs to equip staff for high-quality service delivery.Stakeholder Engagement and Relationships:Represent AQA in key forums and advocate for organisational interests.Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, carers, community partners, and government agencies.Collaborate with external bodies to influence policy and promote best practices.Key Selection Criteria:Qualifications:Tertiary qualifications in Disability, Health, Management, Social Work, or related fields.Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., Governance Institute of Australia, Australian Institute of Management) is desirable.Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:Advanced understanding of operational management in the disability services sector, aligned with NDIS standards.Extensive experience in operational management, strategy development, and organisational leadership.Proven experience in a senior leadership role, preferably within the disability, healthcare, or community services sector.Expertise in managing diverse teams and resolving complex operational challenges.In-depth knowledge of the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework, compliance requirements, and risk management.Experience leading service delivery improvements and innovation within a client-centred framework.Strong financial acumen, including budget development and performance monitoring.Proven track record in developing and sustaining partnerships for organisational growth.Proficiency in digital tools and interest in leveraging technology and AI for operational efficiencies.Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.Demonstrated ability to deliver exceptional client service and uphold a client-first approach.Strong organisational skills and adaptability in a dynamic environment.Cultural responsiveness and an understanding of diverse community needs.Collaborative leadership style fostering teamwork and inclusivity.Commitment to promoting the inclusion and participation of people with disabilities.Integrity and discretion in handling sensitive matters.Licenses and Accreditations:Right to work in Australia.NDIS Worker Screening Check clearance.Working with Children Check or equivalent.
