About Us Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission. Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the ‘Courts Group'. CCV The County Court of Victoria is established pursuant to the County Court Act 1958. It has original and appellate jurisdiction and is the principal trial court in the State of Victoria. The Court hears over 12,000 criminal, common law, and commercial cases each year. The County Court has unlimited monetary jurisdiction in common law and commercial matters. In its criminal jurisdiction, the Court hears all indictable offences except treason, murder, and related offences. There are a total of 80 Judges of the Court and over 300 staff, including judicial support staff. The County Court regularly conducts circuit sittings at 12 circuit courts situated in major centres throughout regional Victoria. About the Role The County Court Criminal Division hears indictable offences under Victorian and Commonwealth law, as well as appeals from the Magistrates' Court and Children's Court both in Melbourne and across regional Victoria. The Division is governed by the Criminal Division Group, which comprises the Head of the Criminal Division, the Listings Judge, the Judge in Charge of Non-Trial Work and the Circuit Judge. The Criminal Division Administration Team is comprised of three functional areas - Criminal Registry Services, Court Resources and Allocations, and Criminal Division Case Management. Led by the Director, together they are responsible for all administrative activities that sustain the operations of the Division, delivering critical services to Court users and the judiciary. The Director is accountable for the integration of administrative work systems across the Division, overseeing all aspects of the end-to-end system. The Director is responsible for assisting and advising the Head of the Criminal Division, and supporting them in their strategic role by helping to explore, articulate and deploy strategies that harness opportunities and manage risks. This includes supporting many of the Court's most sensitive and critical projects, as they relate to the Criminal Division. It also requires the provision of timely and expert advice on diverse, complex and sensitive matters. The role also assists the Head of Division in their public role, both within the legal sector and the broader community. This involves assisting in managing relationships with a large number of Criminal Division stakeholders. The role has three direct reports and 22 indirect reports. About You A degree in Law or related tertiary qualification is mandatory. Tertiary qualifications or commensurate experience in at least two fields relevant to public sector leadership are highly desirable.
