Randwick City Council is an innovative and progressive Council committed to serving our vibrant community on the eastern beaches of Sydney. Our Waste Cleansing and Public Safety department is seeking a Coordinator Waste Management.
Purpose:
To research the Waste Management industry at both Local and State Government level and provide the strategic direction for Council’s Waste Management activities and performance in achieving the legislative requirements in accordance with the Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Act 2001 and the Local Government Act 1993.
About the role:
* Research the industry’s emerging waste management opportunities and develop the strategic direction for the organisation to achieve the environmental targets set out in Council’s Environmental Strategy, NSW Waste and Sustainable Materials Strategy.
* Inform Council and NSW government on Council’s waste management activities and performance as per Council’s legislative requirements.
* Develop strategic waste policies and plans that will give effect to the objectives of waste minimisation across the range of Council activities and services, in the context of targets set under the Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Act 2001, the NSW Waste and Sustainable Materials Strategy 2041, and the Local Government Act 1993.
About you:
* Tertiary qualifications, at degree level, in Environmental Management, Project Management, or a related field. Minimum tertiary qualifications in Environmental Engineering, Health Science, Engineering, or Science.
* Extensive experience (10 years) and demonstrated understanding of waste issues, policy analysis and development, project management, and contract management.
* Demonstrated conceptual, research, analytical, and interpretive skills of a high order with additional skills in business and financial analysis.
