We are seeking a passionate and experienced Chef to join our team at Peppercorn Indian Restaurant.
Key Responsibilities:
* Hire, train, and supervise cooks and other food kitchen staff;
* Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to staff;
* Monitor sanitation practices to ensure that employees follow standards and regulations;
* Estimate amounts and costs of required supplies, such as food and ingredients;
* Order or requisition food and other supplies needed to ensure efficient operation;
* Actively rectify kitchen problems with the staff and the manager;
* Instruct cooks and other workers in the preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation of food;
* Ensure FIFO (First-in First-out) storing method is followed by all staff to prevent foodborne illness and controlling kitchen costs by minimizing wastage;
* Maintain high level of professional appearance and good hygiene during and after service;
* Always maintain the restaurants sanitization and hygiene and enforce the hygiene regulations.
* Prepare and cook a variety of food items for cooking;
* Check the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure that standards are met;
* Supervise and coordinate activities of cooks and workers engaged in food preparation and provide guidance through the stages of cooking as required;
* Inspect supplies, equipment, and work areas to ensure conformance to established standards;
* Develop new recipes and plan menu to introduce various items across the menu;
* Ensure uniform serving sizes and quality of meals;
* Work closely with the management and staff to deal with day-to-day operational issues and concerns.
Skills & Experience:
· Diploma level qualification is required.
· The candidate must have relevant experience.
· Friendly, positive & approachable attitude.
· To be energetic and motivated.
Salary:
$70,000 - $80,000 per annum plus superannuation.
