Are you passionate about the culinary arts and eager to learn in a vibrant, innovative kitchen? Hotel Indigo Brisbane City Centre is seeking a talented and motivated Commis or Demi Chef to join our team as a casual Chef. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to work alongside our Executive Chef and Sous Chef, gaining valuable experience across our exciting food and beverage outlets: Izakaya Publico, Bar 1603, bespoke dining in The Veranda, and in-room dining services.
About the Role
As a Commis or Demi Chef, you’ll be part of a dynamic culinary team, contributing to high-quality dishes and learning the foundations of culinary excellence. Your key responsibilities include:
Assisting with food preparation and supporting our kitchen team in maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation.
Ensuring that food safety and hygiene standards are strictly followed.
Gaining exposure to various kitchen stations and culinary techniques, with opportunities for learning and skill-building.
Supporting a collaborative and positive kitchen environment while working across different dining settings.
Experience with Japanese fusion cuisine is a bonus but not required.
Key Requirements
A passion for food and a willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced kitchen.
Previous experience in a commercial kitchen or culinary training is preferred.
Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, and an understanding of food safety principles.
A flexible and positive attitude with the ability to work on a rotating schedule, including nights and weekends.
