(Pro-rata)Permanent Part-time position working 32 hours per week, over a 7 day rosterOverview The AMUM – Midwifery Continuity Models is an exciting new midwifery leadership position at MBDSMH. Regional South Australia's busiest birthing site supports approximately 600 birthing women a year, and provides care to many more that plan birth at high level hospitals. The AMUM – Midwifery Continuity Models will join the AMUM for inpatient care and the Midwifery Unit Manager to support this growing service. BHFLHN will transition to the Midwifery Model of Care in early 2025, and will see all women supported by a named midwife. Women at MBDSMH will receive midwifery care in one of two midwifery continuity pathways - Midwifery Group Practice, providing continuity across the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care periods; or Midwifery Antenatal and Postnatal Care (MAPCare) providing continuity across the planned antenatal and postnatal care periods, with unplanned and intrapartum care being provided by this inpatient team. All midwifery care is provided in collaboration with the multidisciplinary maternity care team. The AMUM – Midwifery Continuity Models will choose which pathway the clinical component of their role will be in, and provide AMUM support across these teams.The Associate Midwifery Unit Manager (ANUM) role is vital within the MMoC, not only in supporting the MUM and the running of the midwifery groups/models within the maternity service, but as a crucial opportunity to embed midwifery leadership within the service and enable professional growth and sustainability. AMUM roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Facilitate clinical supervision of graduate and early career midwives, providing expertise and support.Oversee and share the graduate midwife's caseload, review results and episodes of care given, to ensure safety and support of the midwife, providing mentorship and guidance in the planning and review of care.Provide sick leave relief and annual leave relief.Support the MUM with on-call advice and after-hours support for midwives.Support the identification and escalations of potential psychological hazards to the MUM.Support the MUM with the day to day running of the services, including caseload review, allocation of referrals, and roster requirements.Relieve MUM for annual leave.Oversee stocks, stores, and assets.In Barossa Hills Fleurieu Local Health Network, we have established the continuity of care practice as standard. With demonstrated clinical and management experience, you will be capable of giving supervision to student nurses, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses.
