Job Summary
The Field Service Technician will provide breakdown and general service for various types of compressors and equipment, promoting Gardner Denver Service to ensure customer satisfaction through quality workmanship. The technician has the authority to take action when a non-conformance is identified and recommend solutions through designated channels.
Responsibilities
* Provide after-hours support and be available for call-backs when rostered on duty.
* Conduct overnight field visits to service breakdowns, maintenance, and customer support.
* Promote and sign up medium to long-term customers for preventative maintenance plans.
* Offer internal and external customer support for assigned equipment.
* Complete all necessary documentation and administrative tasks.
* Pass sales leads to sales staff.
* Achieve weekly and monthly productivity targets.
* Maintain company-owned equipment and premises in a clean, presentable, and serviceable condition.
* Train, support, and mentor new and existing colleagues.
Breakdown, Maintenance & Repair
* Install, repair, and maintain a range of compressors.
* Support the coordination and day-to-day running of the GD Service Business Team. In the event of a breakdown, test the equipment/system, identify faults, and carry out repairs.
* Perform technical preventative maintenance and general service work.
* Ensure sites where servicing is performed are left clean and tidy.
Health, Safety & Environment
* Conduct risk assessments and ensure a safe working environment at all times, preventing harm to self or others.
* Maintain safety compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
* Eliminate risks in the working environment by conducting regular housekeeping and collaborating with customers to mitigate hazards.
* Promote and support incident reporting using the designated system.
* Participate in and conduct safety audits for assigned areas.
Reporting
* Submit risk assessments and job safety analyses within 48 hours of completion.
* Submit daily timesheets detailing hours worked, tasks completed, location, and job number.
Key Competencies
* Knowledge of compressors or similar equipment is essential.
* Ability to communicate technical information to internal and external customers.
* Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office).
* Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to determine root causes of problems.
* Self-motivated and organized individual.
* Trade qualifications Cert III – Fitter and Turner with a minimum of 5 years maintenance experience.
