Our Lady of the sacred Heart Thamarrurr Catholic College is in Wadeye, a large Aboriginal community situated approximately 400km South-West of Darwin with a population of around 3000 people on Diminin land. Most local Aboriginal people speak Murrinhpatha as a first language. OLSH is a bilingual school, while at preschool children are educated in a strong bilingual program which provides the building blocks for rich play-based learning. Children enjoy coming together for singing, dancing, playing games and listening to stories. Through our daily routine children build their confidence and cultural identity.
Position summary
The Preschool Educational Leader is responsible for the leadership of the Pre-School and works closely with the Families as First Teachers (FaFT) Program.
• Supervise and support the Assistant Director- Preschool
• Ensure compliance with the Australian Early Years Framework, NQS and National Regulations
• Prepare for and coordinate ACECQA Assessment and Ratings
• Ensure reporting for Preschool is carried out in a timely manner
• Assist the FaFT Family Educator in Quarterly reports and annual plan, as required
• Liaise with CEONT Early Years Education Officer and undertake reporting required by CEO
• Management of resources and the monitoring of the school budget where it relates to the Preschool
• Assist in the recruitment and selection of new staff for the Early Years of the School
• Implement, organize and oversee the professional development program for Preschool staff
• Supervise and consult with Early Years staff (teachers and assistant teachers).
• Monitor and increase attendance in Preschool
• Coordinate with other agencies working with children in the zero to five age group in the community
• Plan the pre-school enrolment process each year
• Liaise with staff to implement a transition to school program
• With other members of the leadership team assist in the development and implementation of school policies and procedures
• Adhere with all WHS processes and procedures
• Other school wide tasks as delegated by the College Principal
• Support the maintenance of the Catholic Ethos of the School
