Full-time position for a Chef is available in Palm Cove, 4879 QLD.
SKILLS
You are required to have a relevant Diploma Qualification and at least 2 years of experience relevant to the position. At least 3 years of relevant employment experience may substitute.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As the Chef, you will be responsible for the kitchen operations, managing the food preparation team, selecting dishes to serve, and accommodating guest requests. You may assist in prep work, such as vegetable chopping, but primarily focus on cooking specialty dishes. The Chef selects ingredients and designs menus based on seasonal availability, creating unique dishes to inspire our guests to return.
POSITION DUTIES
You will need to undertake the following duties:
* Ensuring proper handling of food, equipment, and utensils
* Supervising and participating in meal service
* Cooking guests' orders to their preferences
* Implementing food safety best practices and ensuring adherence among kitchen staff
* Quality checking all food items before serving
* Exercising caution in potentially hazardous environments
* Selecting high-quality ingredients for optimal flavor
* Planning menus and experimenting with new specialties
* Coaching kitchen staff to perform at their best
* Training other kitchen staff and apprentices
* Managing food inventory and ordering supplies as needed
* Staying updated on cooking and restaurant trends
* Working efficiently during busy periods
* Assisting with additional duties during peak times or staff shortages
* Collaborating with administrative team as needed
* Setting up, cleaning, and organising work stations
* Preparing ingredients and equipment for shifts
* Taking orders and cooking according to health and safety standards
* Recommending specials or seasonal dishes
* Handling multiple food orders simultaneously
REQUIREMENTS
* Knowledge of food-related curriculum and training techniques
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong teamwork and individual task management skills
* Understanding of raw materials and quality control principles
* Familiarity with food preparation regulations and standards
* Excellent communication and organisational abilities
SALARY
Annual salary of $70,000 - $80,000 based on experience.
