Aboriginal applicants will be granted priority consideration for this vacancy.Primary Objective: The Heavy Vehicle Workshop Manager is responsible for providing high-level expert advice on the management, repair, and maintenance of all NT Police, Fire and Emergency Services (NTPFES) heavy vehicles in all NT urban and regional locations. The position provides leadership and management to the Heavy Vehicle Workshop including staff management, work scheduling, ordering of consumables and spare parts, and the ordering of goods and services from other companies and contract agencies.Key Duties and Responsibilities:Manage the scheduling of NTPFES heavy vehicle asset maintenance ensuring maximum operational availability, particularly on firefighting appliances.Assist with the management of period contracts associated with the maintenance of the heavy vehicle fleet, including the supply of firefighting pumps, tyres, vehicle body builds, and windscreens.Assist on recruiting selection panels when required.Maintain and monitor information within the agencies Vehicle Management System (VMS) ensuring the scope and cost of maintenance is captured.Determine the extent and scope of repairs necessary and ensure that correct information is accurately recorded on job cards.Assist with the management of the fit-out and de-commissioning of heavy vehicle fleet assets.Maintain stock levels of repair parts within the heavy vehicle repair workshop store.Selection Criteria:Essential:Certificate 3 (Trade) in heavy vehicle technology or equivalent.Extensive knowledge of heavy vehicle braking systems, air systems, complex hydraulic systems, and truck electrical systems with particular emphasis on fault diagnosis of complex engine and chassis computer-controlled systems.MVR Heavy Vehicle Inspectors license or the ability to gain the qualification on commencement.Heavy Rigid (HR) Truck licence, or the ability to gain the qualification on commencement.Demonstrated ability to work without supervision and manage small teams.Desirable:Post trade qualifications in brand-specific maintenance or related field.Forklift licence.The successful applicant must have no significant criminal record confirmed by a Police criminal history check.#J-18808-Ljbffr
