Exciting opportunity for an experienced water policy and land use planning specialist to lead some of the most complex integrated water policy pieces in DEECA. The Water Security, Policy and Planning branch is looking for an experienced and dedicated water policy and / or land use planning specialist to join our team to backfill this parental leave position for 10 months. In this role, you will drive some of the most complex integrated water and land use planning policy reform initiatives, shaping the future of water management in our region. Our team's remit is to deliver policy and regulatory reform that enables the transition from conventional water sources such as river water to more manufactured water supplies like treated stormwater and recycled water. By diversifying the state's water supplies we aim to ensure a resilient and affordable urban water security future, while avoiding or minimising the environmental impacts associated with urban development. The ideal candidate will have experience in policy development and a technical understanding of Victorian water and land planning systems. We need a self-motivated individual who can work effectively both independently and as a team. In this role you will: Use your strong policy skills to identify and drive water and land use planning reform that embeds integrated water management in urban land use planning processes. Undertake research or develop of guidance and tools that supports the industry by unlocking meaningful steps forward on the transition to manufactured water supplies. Use your understanding of key drivers of change across the water and land use planning sectors to develop strategic influencing plans and processes. Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications Mandatory: A tertiary qualification, preferably in science, civil or environmental engineering, natural resource management, economics, political/social science, law, urban planning or related field. Highly desirable: Experience in developing and implementing Government policy, preferably in the field of urban planning or economics. Highly desirable: An understanding of the key drivers of change across the water and land use planning sectors that will assist in mainstreaming integrated water management. This is a fixed term position available for a period of 10 Months. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
