We specialize in refurbishing plant and equipment and manufacture all parts in-house.We are classified as an Essential Business, some of the industries supported by SMS include Oil & Gas, Agriculture, Power Generation, Water Authorities, Steelworks, Mining, & Building Services.We are looking for a multi-skilled metal tradesman - First Class Machinist Mechanical Fitter.ResponsibilitiesAnalyzing blueprints and specifications to select appropriate materials, methods, operation sequences, and machine settings.Installing fabricated metal components into products and assembling metal parts and subassemblies to create machines and equipment.Inspecting fabricated and assembled metal parts for precision, fit, and clearance using precision measuring tools.Adjusting guides, stops, and other controls on machining equipment, setting up necessary cutting and shaping tools and dies, and configuring controls for textile machinery.Shaping metal stock and castings to precise tolerances using tools for pressing, cutting, grinding, planning, boring, and drilling.Cutting, threading, bending, and installing hydraulic and pneumatic pipes and lines.Preparing pattern mechanisms for controlling textile machinery used in spinning, weaving, knitting, sewing, and tufting fabrics.Diagnosing faults, performing routine maintenance on machines, and overhauling and repairing mechanical components and fluid power systems.Potentially assembling and installing machines and equipment on-site.Skills RequiredEducation and Qualifications:Relevant qualifications10 years of experienceExperience: At least 10 years of previous fitting or similar mechanical role experience. Hands-on experience with machinery assembly and maintenance.Technical Skills: Proficient in reading technical drawings and using precision measuring tools. Skilled in metalworking tools and equipment.Knowledge: Understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Familiar with safety procedures in industrial settings.Physical Abilities: Able to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods. Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity.Problem-Solving Skills: Strong at diagnosing and troubleshooting machinery faults. Efficient in repairs and maintenance.Communication Skills: Clear communicator with team members and supervisors.
