We can do this over the telephone or at one of our 28 offices.About the roleAs a Senior Solicitor (Grade V) – Criminal Law, you will provide high-quality legal services, including legal advice and representation in complex criminal matters, in accordance with Legal Aid NSW policies and guidelines. You will manage and support legal officers, ensuring the delivery of effective and efficient legal services while also maintaining your own caseload. A key part of your role will be to develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including the judiciary, private legal practitioners, and community organisations. You will also play a critical role in supervising and mentoring junior solicitors, contributing to staff development, and fostering a supportive and professional team environment.About youThe successful applicant will be an experienced criminal law solicitor with strong leadership and management skills, capable of balancing a high-volume and complex legal practice with team supervision and mentoring. You will have a deep understanding of criminal law and a demonstrated ability to manage legal officers while maintaining high service standards. Strong stakeholder engagement skills, the ability to manage workload pressures, and a commitment to supporting the professional growth and wellbeing of your team are essential. Experience in regional legal practice and working with vulnerable clients will be highly regarded.Essential requirements for this roleBe admitted or be eligible for admission as a legal practitioner in NSW.Be able to provide a current NSW Practising Certificate before you start work with us.Be willing to do a Criminal Record Check and/or Working with Children Check (for regional offices and some specialist teams).Hold Australian or NZ citizenship, Australian Permanent Residency (for ongoing vacancies), or a valid visa to work in Australia (for temporary vacancies).Hold a valid Driver Licence and the ability to travel to circuit courts including overnight travel.How to applyYou MUST submit your application online.
