Danila Dilba Health Service are seeking an Mental Health Practitioner to join their Don Dale Clinic team in Berrimah. This role works to provide mental health services relevant to a youth justice setting.

What will you be doing?
10. Deliver high quality, culturally safe, Social & Emotional Well Being (SEWB) therapeutic counselling and comprehensive mental health services, to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth in a forensic setting.
11. Deliver trauma informed based therapies to DDHS clients.
12. Providing high quality counselling and mental health services including clinical, risk assessment and specialist therapeutic treatment to DDHS clients.
13. Develop co-operative working relationships with external stakeholders and providers to optimise client service delivery and referral.
14. Communication effectively to build and maintain relationships with clients and colleagues, including those from diverse cultural backgrounds and linguistic needs, based on respect and trust.
15. Perform work within a legislative and ethical framework to ensure the provision of high-quality service delivery which supports the rights and interest of clients.
16. Undertake a range of administrative activities (including comprehensive case notes and reporting), in line with the DDHS policies, Funding Agreement and Legislative requirements.
What do you need to apply?
17. Tertiary qualifications as a Mental Health Nurse or Psychologist or Aboriginal Health Practitioner (with a Cert IV in A&TSI Primary Health Care Practice and specialist mental health training) or Mental Health accreditation in Social Work along with current registration with AHPRA or practicing membership of Australian Association of Social Workers.
18. Demonstrated experience in mental health assessment and treatment methods.
19. Experience in working with multidisciplinary team structure within youth justice, youth, or child protection services.
20. Experience in the provision of case management in the youth sector.
21. Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture and history and knowledge of issues impacting on Aboriginal children and families, youth, and adults and those affected by Stolen Generations’ policies and practices.
22. Demonstrated knowledge and ability to effectively engage and to provide support services to young people who present with challenging behaviour.
23. Demonstrated ability to prepare written reports to a high standard and use of electronic information systems.
