The Northern Queensland Primary Health Network (NQPHN) is one of 31 independent and regionally-focused PHNs dedicated to enhancing healthcare across North Queensland. Serving approximately 700,000 residents, the NQPHN region spans from St Lawrence on the south coast to the Torres Strait in the north, and west to Croydon and Kowanyama. With a dedicated team of over 90 staff members working from offices in Cairns (Gimuy-Walubura Yidinji and Djabugay Nation country), Townsville (Bindal and Wulgurukaba country), and Mackay (Yuwibara country), NQPHN is committed to addressing the unique health needs of its diverse communities.
Your Opportunity
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NQPHN is a vital leadership role tasked with steering the organisation's strategy and operations to enhance primary healthcare outcomes in the region. Reporting to the Board of Directors and based in either Cairns, Townsville, or Mackay, the CEO will significantly influence NQPHN's strategic direction and the execution of its mission to provide high-quality, coordinated, and accessible healthcare.
Key Focuses of the Role:
Leadership & Strategy: Set and guide the strategic direction of NQPHN, ensuring it aligns with the mission to improve primary healthcare outcomes. Healthcare Service Oversight: Oversee the commissioning of healthcare services to meet the diverse needs of the region's population. Stakeholder Management: Represent NQPHN and cultivate strong relationships with healthcare stakeholders, government agencies, and community partners. Operational & Financial Management: Manage NQPHN's resources, staff, and budget effectively, ensuring compliance with statutory and organisational requirements.

About You
To excel in this role, you will need:
Leadership Experience: Previous experience as a CEO or in a role with equivalent responsibilities, supported by qualifications in health, management, and/or leadership. Passion for Community Impact: A strong commitment to delivering meaningful improvements across communities, with an understanding of the challenges and opportunities in regional and rural health settings. Healthcare Knowledge: Familiarity with the current landscape of General Practice, including experience with Australian healthcare systems and reforms. Stakeholder Management: Extensive experience working with key stakeholder groups similar to those in NQPHN's context to achieve optimal community outcomes.
