You will have a warm, engaging and collaborative approach where you will look to understand their dementia journey so far and the context of the change in behaviour, whether it relates to a psychosocial need or other needs or triggers within their environment that might be contributing to the onset of a change.This is a personally rewarding opportunity where you advocate on behalf of the person living with dementia, ensuring an improved quality of living and that further care and support is responsive to their individual and diverse needs through your recommendations, behavioural management strategies, and practical interventions. This is also a wonderful opportunity to provide further knowledge insight in educating family members, upskilling carers, and others involved in their care in how to successfully identify and manage behavioural psychosocial symptoms of dementia when you are not there.The opportunity looks to align assessments to where you live, and we are looking for further Dementia Specialists who are up for a new challenge for 2022 to join the growing Adelaide and Greater Adelaide team. The position additionally offers autonomy and flexibility on assessment days where you travel to and from assessments from home, allowing you to provide further support and a greater reach to persons living with dementia.The CandidateStrong aged care experience working closely with persons living with dementia in residential care, community, or acute/sub-acute settings.Experience working in a Senior Nurse/Lead, Clinical Care Manager, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Diversional Therapist, or other dementia specialised roles like a Dementia CNC.Alternatively, you may currently work as an ACAT/AN-ACC Assessor, in Aged Care Management, or as an Educator and would really enjoy making a more meaningful difference assessing and advocating for persons living with dementia at different stages of their journey.Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of different types of dementia, experience in successfully managing BPSD, and astuteness in identifying triggers and unmet needs.Further qualifications currently studying or completed in Dementia Care, Gerontology, or Health & Ageing will be very highly regarded.
