About the Opportunity
Solicitors in the Government and Administrative Law Group of the Public Law Section are responsible for providing high quality, timely, client-focused, practical and independent legal advice and representation to a variety of government agencies and statutory authorities, and before various courts and tribunals, particularly SACAT. Solicitors with commensurate experience would contribute to the mentorship and development of junior colleagues by overseeing their less complex matters, whilst building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and clients. Seniors who are of a LEC 4 or LEC5 level will be responsible for formal matter management of Junior solicitors.
About the Business
The Crown Solicitor's Office provides legal services to government specifically to Ministers, departments and other public sector agencies. This includes providing legal advice, conducting a wide range of litigation including representation before courts and tribunals, negotiating and drafting for commercial property and general commercial transactions, drafting and producing a broad range of other legal documents, conducting summary prosecutions, Magistrates' appeals and native title claims and land conveyancing and investigation.
Special Conditions for Employment
Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be provided further information if an interview is requested. Forms are not to be lodged directly with SA Police (SAPOL) under any circumstances and any fees incurred by applicants in doing so will not be recoverable from the AGD.
Some out of hours work may be required.
Must currently possess or be eligible to obtain an unrestricted practicing certificate within South Australia.
