About the OPPORTUNITY
We have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Engineer to join our Maritime Sustainment program based at Garden Island NSW, reporting to the Project Engineering Manager.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.
Working as the assigned Design Authority Representative (DAR) and Principal Engineers Delegate (PE-DEL) your role as the Electrical Engineering Manager will be responsible for reviewing electrical engineering changes and electrical engineering safety issues.
Key responsibilities include:
* Provide technical advice and engineering support to resolve urgent defects or conduct investigations into determining root cause analysis.
* Identify, review, and endorse technical risks and provide engineering advice to the Customer.
* Derive electronic/ electrical system requirements, define the test requirements and participate in system design and electronic system requirements reviews.
* Translate electrical system design into a manufactured product and incorporate design for manufacture factors.
* Develop solutions against requirements including their optimisation and present the solution in design reviews.
* Undertake detailed design analysis to identify the optimum design for the defined electrical system architecture.
* Undertake the full qualification of complex electrical system products including devising solutions to complex qualification problems including the review of qualification plans and reports.
* Undertake the integration and validation of complex electronic/ electrical system designs with challenging physical and functional properties including the review of integration and validation plans and reports.
* Identify, monitor and report on business opportunities and risks and develop mitigation strategies including monitoring and reporting on the status of risks and opportunities.
* Hold and exercise a formal delegation of engineering authority issued through the company's internal process.
* Manage and provide leadership to a team of electrical engineers.
About YOU
* Electrical or Electrical/ Electronic or Electrical/ Mechatronic Engineering Degree qualified satisfying the requirements for membership of the Institute of Engineers Australia.
* Chartered Professional Engineer status or eligible to apply for Chartered Professional Engineer status.
* Expected to be a delegated electrical signatory for nominated projects.
* Extensive experience within the electrical engineering discipline and demonstrated experience in the relevant domain.
* Experience in being responsible for the development of electrical system designs, participation in design reviews, undertaking typical design analyses and implementation of solutions, their integration, validation, qualification testing and delivery and support.
* Experience in technologies relevant to the work area including human factors and security considerations, Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) solutions and compliance, electrical and mechanical manufacturability, reliability and maintainability.
* Build and maintain customer and supplier relationships (both internal and external).
