This Government Agency is well established in Queensland and is in charge of all the infrastructures throughout.
The Opportunity
Our client is seeking a skilled and motivated Construction Supervisor in Townsville to join our team. This role involves supervising staff, assessing project conditions, estimating costs, and ensuring the efficient delivery of construction and maintenance projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the construction industry, modern estimating methods, and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the planning and execution of projects through the supervision and development of office staff, field staff, and subcontractors.
Conduct high-quality condition assessments and prepare cost-effective project estimates.
Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety standards, human resource practices, and employment equity.
Provide supervisory services for construction, maintenance, and upgrade works.
Produce high-quality tender and quotation documentation, including detailed estimates, material lists, and construction schedules.
Coordinate and deliver condition assessment services, including inspecting building elements and collecting samples of suspected asbestos materials.
Maintain safety standards, ensuring all job documentation includes risk assessments and safe work method statements.
Promote a healthy and safe work environment by working closely with WHS advisors and managers.
About You
This role is best suited for candidates already based in Townsville or nearby areas within a comfortable commuting distance, as it is not a FIFO position and may not be ideal for relocation.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Construction industry-related trade qualification (highly desirable).
Proficient computer skills.
Current Workplace Health & Safety General Safety Induction Card.
Thorough knowledge of contemporary estimating methods and relevant legislative requirements.
Proven ability to interpret plans and prepare accurate building estimates.
Familiarity with information management systems used in maintenance and project management.
Ability to liaise effectively with estimators and tradespersons.
Additional Requirements:
Current driver's license (required for road travel).
Willingness to travel, including overnight stays of up to 4 nights and occasional light aircraft travel.
