Our client is seeking to fill:
2x APS 4 Payroll Officers
2x APS 5 Assistant Payteam Leaders
Full time, non-ongoing opportunities for 12 months.
Open to s26 transfers

Payroll Services is responsible for the timely and accurate administration of payroll for the Department and shared services clients. Payroll Officers undertake a range of general payroll processing functions and provide advice on payroll related matters. You will work independently and as part of a team under general direction within established parameters, policies, and delegations. The focus is to ensure salaries are paid correctly and on time. You will liaise regularly with managers and staff on payroll matters.
Duties for APS 4 Payroll:
* Undertake a range of general payroll processing functions to establish/and or maintain accurate staff record using SAP.
* Assess entitlements and conditions of service against eligibility criteria in accordance with legislation, policy, and enterprise agreements.
* Provide advice and respond to enquiries relating to entitlements and conditions of service.
* Maintain appropriate records and file documents in accordance with record management protocols.
* Contribute new ideas and opportunities to improve procedures in the work area.
* Investigate/calculate over and under payments of salary, arrange recovery of minor overpayments or refer where relevant.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll related legislation, policy, and enterprise agreements.
* Prepare and escalate pay processing related work requiring senior officer action and/or delegate approval.
* Assist with User Acceptance Testing relating to system enhancements and updates.
Duties for APS 5 Assistant Payteam Leader:
* Provide technical support and advice to payroll processing team members.
* Maintain knowledge currency to interpret and apply legislation, policies, and enterprise agreements.
* Assist with the management of a payroll services processing team, including monitoring staff performance, work allocation, identifying and addressing training needs.
* Provide on-the-job training to team members.
* Provide technical support and advice to payroll processing team members.
* Undertake quality assurance and compliance activities including the use of reports, assist with payroll audits and reconciliation of payments and invoices.
* Respond to employee enquiries accurately and in a timely manner.
* Liaise with internal and external stakeholder to address complex and/or sensitive payroll related matters.
* Contribute to team business planning and identify opportunities to improve the efficiency of operation.
* Undertake specialised payroll processing function including workers compensation.
* Assist with User Acceptance Testing relating to user enhancements and updates.
