About the Opportunity As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the ICT Networks & Infrastructure Platforms section, responsible for the day-to-day operations of two departmental data centres. You’ll also serve as the lead technical expert supporting a major UPS and AC replacement project, ensuring uptime, performance, and operational excellence. This is a Canberra-based on-site position. While 100% remote work is not available, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated with the hiring manager. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily operations of departmental data centres, including UPS and AC systems Manage racks, cabling, space optimisation, airflow, and power distribution Monitor performance using vROPs and EcoStruxure DCO/DCE Coordinate with vendors for system upgrades, maintenance, and compliance Enforce ICT security policies and operational best practices Provide technical leadership on the UPS/AC replacement project Research and evaluate market offerings, and recommend the most suitable solutions Develop high-quality design, build, and operational documentation Present technical solutions clearly and coach staff across the ICT Operations Branch What We're Looking For Proven hands-on experience managing enterprise data centre infrastructure Experience delivering or supporting UPS and AC replacement projects Deep understanding of infrastructure monitoring tools and system optimisation Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills Ability to document and standardise procedures and infrastructure design Australian Citizenship (mandatory) Must hold or be able to obtain Baseline security clearance Essential Criteria Experience with data centre operations including rack management, vendor coordination, and real-time monitoring Demonstrated ability to deliver infrastructure upgrade projects involving AC and UPS systems, including analysis of current technologies Capability to write and maintain design, build, and operational documentation Strong verbal and written communication skills, with confidence presenting to stakeholders and coaching team members Desirable Criteria Understanding of Government security frameworks (including Essential Eight and the PSPF ) up to Protected level Don’t Have a Security Clearance?
