About Us : Katherine Town Council is the Municipal Council for Katherine, NT.
Providing services to the Katherine Community relating to rates, roads, infrastructure, animal control, waste management and other core essential services.
At the heart of the Big Rivers region is Katherine, the fourth largest township in the Northern Territory.
Outside of Darwin and Palmerston Local Government Areas, Katherine is the next major regional centre closest to the Port of Darwin; the only major multimodal port located in Northern Australia and Australia's gateway to the Asia Pacific.
Katherine is located at a critical crossroads point for Northern Australia and the top end, connecting Perth to Darwin from the west and Adelaide to Darwin through the north/south highway and rail corridor.
Katherine services the wider region with access to education and medical services.
Around 8,000 people live in the Katherine municipality.
The local RAAF Airbase at the Katherine suburb of Tindal adds around 2,000 to this figure making it over 10,000 people living and working in Katherine.

Position Summary : This role reports to our Manager Community Relations and provides daily supervision and coordinates operations for our library.
Our ideal candidate has a passion for community engagement, and innovative thinking to grow our library services to reach more community members.
You'll manage a small and dedicated team and work with them to implement strategies to ensure our library service meeting the growing and changing needs of the wider Katherine community.
Key Requirements : Selection Criteria Essential Demonstrated understanding of the role/s of public libraries in communities and a community-centred approach to service delivery Demonstrated knowledge of current and emerging technologies and changing ways libraries deliver business Ability to implement a range of public library programs and services within a community-centred context.
Experience and knowledge of customer service in public library contexts Ability to engage, liaise and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated management skills to support and manage staff.
Administrative and organisational skills including records management, finance, risk and project management.
An ability to interact effectively with people from different cultures with understanding of EEO principles and WH&S practices.
Desirable Experience in Local Government Relevant tertiary education in Librarianship allowing for associate membership of The Australian Library and Information Association or associated degree in a relevant discipline e.g.
community engagement, early literacy Job Responsibility : Positions Key Responsibility Manage and coordinate the design, delivery, implementation and evaluation of programs and services to meet community needs.
Lead service delivery including the management of operations, collections, marketing, financial and facility management.
Manage and support a library team fostering a culture of innovation, learning, continuous improvement and service enhancement.
Develop and implement library strategy plans, policies, and procedures in accordance with community needs and Katherine Town Council's strategic objectives.
Provide a safe, secure and WHS compliant facility and library service.
Provide non-standard report for Library Services to go to Council from time to time and reports to be included in the Annual and Municipal Plan.
Other responsibilities as shall be reasonable associated with or incidental to the above responsibilities or as shall, in the course of the employment be agreed between the parties as being or forming part of the duties.
Organisational Responsibilities Ensure compliance with Workplace Health and Safety requirements.

Participate in activities associated with the management of workplace health and safety.
Identify and report health and safety risks, accidents, incidents, injuries, property damage and mishaps at the workplace.
Assist in the implementation of the Katherine Town Council's Local Counter Disaster Sub-Plan in the event of a disaster.
