A global mining operator who has a portfolio of resources projects in Australia. As a result of a new project going into construction in early 2025 and aiming for a full operational phase by late 2026, we are looking for a Civil Construction Supervisor to take on this challenge.
The Role
The Civil Construction Supervisor will oversee on-site construction operations, ensuring that all activities meet the standards for safety, quality, and efficiency. This includes coordinating daily activities, managing subcontractors, ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations, and reporting on project progress.
Your Responsibilities
Supervise on-site activities, managing construction crews, schedules, and materials. Direct daily construction activities on-site, ensuring teams are following project schedules and adhering to quality and safety standards. Manage contractor performance and resource allocation, coordinate and oversee the work of contractors, vendors, and labor crews to maintain consistent progress. Ensuring contractors and suppliers adhere to the agreed scope, quality standards, and safety regulations outlined in the contract specifications. Coordinating change orders or modifications as needed, while ensuring documentation and approvals are in place. Conduct daily toolbox talks, safety meetings, and provide clear instructions to construction crews. Ensure that all construction activities align with engineering specifications, technical drawings, and regulatory standards. Inspect work regularly to verify adherence to quality and safety guidelines. Identify and address any deviations from project plans or standards, implementing corrective actions as needed. Promote a culture of safety on-site, enforcing compliance with all industry regulations, safety protocols, and mining-specific safety requirements. Conduct regular safety inspections, identifying potential hazards and coordinating with safety officers to mitigate risks. Report and document any safety incidents, ensuring follow-up actions are completed. Assist with the scheduling and allocation of resources, including labor, materials, and equipment. Monitor material usage and coordinate with procurement to ensure timely delivery and availability of resources. Address equipment or resource-related issues on-site, ensuring minimal disruption to project timelines. Address and resolve any on-site issues that may affect safety, quality, or project schedule. Serve as the primary point of contact for site-level construction updates, communicating progress and challenges to the Construction Manager. Prepare and submit daily reports on project progress, safety incidents, resource usage, and other relevant site activities. Coordinate with the project management team to ensure alignment on project goals and any adjustments to the construction plan. What you'll need to succeed
Diploma or equivalent in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field. Substantial experience in construction supervision within the mining or heavy industrial sectors. Strong understanding of construction processes, equipment, and safety protocols in a mining environment. Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate diverse teams. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Proficient in reading and interpreting construction plans and specifications. Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing project demands.
