About the role:
The Vegetation Management Unit of Natural Resource Assessment focuses on managing Queensland's natural environment while providing expert guidance to landholders and stakeholders on the Vegetation Management Framework. In this role, you will assess applications, conduct field and desktop evaluations, and support effective compliance with natural resource management legislation across the state.
1. Participate in activities that support the responsible management of state interests and legislative responsibilities for the Department of Resources.
2. Advise and negotiate with clients, government levels, and organizations on natural resource management issues and policy implementation.
3. Analyse and interpret information and legislation to provide advice and services to landholders and stakeholders.
4. Prepare written correspondence, briefing notes, reports, and information documents for supervisor and manager approval.
5. Assist with planning and conducting compliance activities, including inspections and implementing legislative enforcement tools.
This position requires:
1. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to negotiate respectfully with diverse stakeholders and clients.
2. A collaborative team player passionate about responsible natural resource use and committed to promoting workplace equity and diversity.
3. A degree or higher in the field of Natural Resource Management, Land/Regional/Urban Planning, Environmental or Earth Sciences, or Agriculture.
4. The ability to rapidly acquire knowledge in GIS systems, and natural resource management legislation would be highly regarded.
5. Current C class (manual) driver's licence is essential.
6. The ability to travel outside of normal office hours and/or overnight accommodation for extended periods.
