The Role
Applications are now invited for the position of Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner. The appointee will be responsible for providing family dispute resolution services (mediation) with specific work tasks to include:
* Identifying problem-solving options and strategies and providing assistance in clarifying clients’ problems and disputes
* Assisting parents negotiate sustainable and workable parenting plans
* Assisting parents negotiate financial settlements when these present alongside parenting issues
* Providing assessment in relation to the provision of Certificates as required by Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner Regulations
* Facilitation of group programs where required
* Providing guidance relating to property and financial matters
* Working with the LGBTIQ Community to provide Better Pride specialist services.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Prospective candidates must be able to demonstrate registration as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner together with a proven ability to work within the Family Law Act. Knowledge of the effects of separation and divorce on families is essential as is an understanding of the concepts and philosophy of family dispute resolution including mediation. Other essential criteria include the ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions to issues as they arise, excellent communication skills, well developed interpersonal skills and the ability to rapidly build rapport with clients. Both property and children’s mediation experience would be a distinct advantage and candidates who can offer this skill set are particularly encouraged to apply.

Further Information
This is a part-time 0.8 FTE role that can be based at either our Oakleigh or Traralgon site. Evening work (until 8pm) will be required one evening per week currently on a Tuesday.
