Programmed, in partnership with Tweed Shire Council has an opportunity for a Fabrication & Welding Apprenticeship commencing in January 2025.As the largest Council on the north coast of New South Wales, Tweed Shire Council delivers more than 50 services to 94,000 residents over an area of 1303 square kilometres.

Programmed are seeking motivated applicants that have a great eye for detail, good hand coordination, enjoys welding, a strong commitment to safety, a passion for the Welding Fabrication industry and the drive to commit to a 4-year Apprenticeship.
As a full-time Apprentice, you may be eligible to receive a total of $5,000 in Government incentives under the Australian Apprenticeships Incentive System.
Working as a Fabrication & Welding Apprentice may see you completing the following tasks:
* Establish the requirements and the steps needed to do the job, by interpreting scale-drawing dimensions to full size.
* Draw accurate guidelines on the metal, showing where to cut, drill, bend and carry out other types of work, such as ruling, punching and dividing.
* Cut marked metal sections using hand tools or flame cutting torches or by setting up and operating metalworking machines such as guillotines and shearing machines.
* Shape and bend sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, such as vices, hydraulic presses and rolling machines, or by forging.
* Assemble parts and structures by positioning and lining up parts and joining them by welding, bolting or riveting and, if large, with the aid of cranes and other equipment.
* Make full-size patterns, called templates, to be used when making large numbers of identical shapes.
* Work as a team member.
* Attend safety Toolbox Talks, contribute to the team's safety.
To be considered you must have the following:
* Competent numeracy and literacy skills.
* Positive attitude.
* Current Drivers Licence and reliable transport.
* Completed Year 10 Education.
* General Construction Induction card (White Card) prior to commencement.
* Commitment to become trade qualified.
* Demonstrated capacity to work as a team member.
* Demonstrated capacity to work safely with a zero-harm attitude.
Work Location:
The position is based in the Murwillumbah Depot and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
TAFE Requirements:
You will also be required to attend TAFE one day per week in Lismore/Alstonville NSW (Wollongbar TAFE). Travel assistance may be applicable through VTAS funding.
