Your Role The First Assistant Secretary Henderson Consolidation is a newly established position that will lead and coordinate a complex ecosystem across shipbuilding, ship sustainment, and potentially nuclear-powered submarines, to determine policy and investment needs across workforce, infrastructure and the broader industrial base.
The suitable candidate will oversee the creation of an integrated Commonwealth-owned Defence precinct at Henderson in Western Australia to support continuous naval shipbuilding and sustainment, which remains capable of continuing to sustain the surface and Collins-class fleets during its development.
The First Assistant Secretary Henderson Consolidation will oversee the strategic management of the Henderson Shipyard project, including: negotiate, and enter into, contracts to develop, build, and operate the Commonwealth-owned Defence precinct at Henderson; represent the Commonwealth in engagements with the WA State Government, WA industry, and the local community; and support ongoing shipbuilding and sustainment operations at Henderson.
