The key duties of the position include The Role The successful applicant will provide security officer services and security advice to Hunter Class Frigate Branch (HCFB) personnel including command and management with a primary goal to enable a strong and effective security culture. The successful candidate will report to the SEA 5000 Deputy Director Security Manager and the Business Team Director. As a part of the HCFB, this role is an excellent opportunity for an individual to rise to a new challenge as the Branch Security Officer working with an integrated workforce of Australian Defence Force, Australian Public Service and contract personnel. The role provides an excellent opportunity for you to build knowledge and develop skills as you support the delivery a major, multi-decade Defence project. You will collaborate with, manage some and support the collective stakeholder Team Hunter group from Defence and our Defence Industry partners. You will build and sustain effective relationships with team members and actively participate in Team Hunter activities. About our Team The Hunter Class Frigate Program (HCFP) will provide the Australian Defence Force with provide six frigates optimised for anti-submarine warfare. Based on the UK's Type 26 Global Combat Ship the HCF Frigate will be enhanced to meet Royal Australian Navy requirements. HCFP is a multi-billion dollar program that includes numerous Australian suppliers including BAE Systems Maritime Australia, SAAB Australia, Lockheed Martin Australia, CEA Australia and Thales Australia, plus numerous international stakeholders from the UK, USA, Canada and Europe. Whilst your position is based in Canberra at the Branch Head Office, you will also be interacting with a broad range of Australian based and International based stakeholders. The frigates are being constructed at the Osborne Naval Shipyard, South Australia and some interstate travel is required. You will have access to generous working conditions as an Australian Public Servant in Defence. You will be supported in balancing work life with family and other priorities, with a variety of flexible working arrangements available. Information on Defence employees' working conditions, including an attractive remuneration package with a generous superannuation contribution (15.4%), can be sourced from the Defence Enterprise Agreement. Our Ideal Candidate HCF Branch is looking for a self-motivated Security Officer to be a part of a small and dynamic team. In order to provide high quality support the successful candidate will have: Demonstrated leadership experience including the ability to supervise and mentor team members. Desire to foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development personally and amongst the team. Experience as a Security Officer or Assistant Security Officer (highly desirable). Experience in developing security risk assessments and implementing risk management strategies, or a willingness to learn and develop skills in this area. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to manage and coordinate multiple branch and project tasks and activities simultaneously. Adaptability, resilience and flexibility in the face of changing priorities and be open to acquire new skills, seek knowledge and have the willingness to assist other teams. Most importantly, we are seeking team-orientated individual with a positive attitude, who can navigate and rise above the high tempo of this busy and rewarding role.
