About you:
You are a qualified Allied Health Assistant with demonstrated high level knowledge, skills, and proven experience as an Allied Health Assistant. Experience in geriatric care or a hospital setting is highly desirable. You can demonstrate skills in teaching, training, guidance and supervision of patients and therapy assistants/colleagues and have high level interpersonal and communication skills, including, verbal communication, written documentation, and computer skills with the ability to liaise effectively with co-workers, patients, and the public in a cross-cultural environment.
Your opportunity:
To maximise quality patient focused care and service delivery by supporting the allied health professionals with the delivery of appropriate therapeutic activities for consumers of HITH and their families, and by undertaking supportive nonclinical duties.
To undertake defined activities in a complex caseload with a high degree of independence.
Your role:
1. Support the HITH service in the provision of clinical services to patients within scope of practice guidelines by:
2. implementing advanced level therapy interventions under the direction of a treating Allied Health Team member, including but not limited to education, functional mobility training, self-care activities / retraining, swallowing and communication retraining, feeding and nutrition support, setting up assistive equipment and delivery of screening assessments and information.
3. maintaining close communication with the allied health professionals, patients, families and other interprofessional team members, regarding patient care and progress, including relevant clinical documentation and statistics collection.
4. undertaking non- clinical tasks including retrieval, cleaning, tracking, and maintaining equipment loaned to patients and other specialised equipment as well as performing routine clerical and administrative duties.
5. leading quality improvement activities and quality control tasks as directed.
