Ecoplanning is a leading environmental consultancy established in 2014 that specialises in the provision of ecological, conservation planning and offset advice in NSW.
The opportunity
An opportunity is available for an North West Regional Team Leader/Senior Ecologist to lead, support and manage the expansion of our business in the region. This role will suit an experienced ecologist who has managed clients and teams, and is motivated by the opportunity to build a team of consultants that will continue the future success of our highly regarded consultancy within current and new opportunities.
Ecoplanning have developed strong relationships with private industry and the public sector in the north of NSW, and we are seeking to build a local presence to better serve this client base into the future. This role is ideally based in the Gunnedah/Tamworth locality to service existing commitments in the Gunnedah Basin, Mt Kaputar and Pilliga regions, but also the Darling Riverine Plains, Central West and North Coast. The location of the NW Office will be considered in collaboration with the best applicant for the position, but an opportunity for the role to be based out of the Newcastle (Hunter) or Armidale (New England) are also a consideration.
The North West Team Leader will be part of the Ecoplanning Management and Senior Leadership Teams, enabling effective communication from the Field Ecologist and Technical Assistant level to the Senior staff and Management.

Requirements
Essential:
2. A degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Conservation Biology or related discipline.
3. Considerable experience managing projects, budgets, teams and the expectations of clients and stakeholders.
4. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to build, motivate and manage teams effectively.
5. Experience in an environmental consultancy or similar.
6. Strong knowledge of the legislative framework in which Ecoplanning operate and the services we provide.
7. Excellent organisational skills, and experience in project management in a relevant industry.
8. An ability to secure new business opportunities, prepare proposals and support the team in winning work.
9. Ability to design, plan and conduct comprehensive ecological field surveys, including surveys in remote locations.
10. Exceptional skills in communication and team building.
11. Ability to self-motivate and to deliver outcomes with competing priorities.
12. Alignment with the company values.
Desirable:
13. Honours or postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline.
14. Practical knowledge of biodiversity offsetting at State and Commonwealth level.
15. BAM accreditation.
16. Other relevant training, such as Provide First Aid, White Card, 4WD training.
